Starting point of this hike is the STI stop «Merligen Beatus» of line 21. From there it goes up to the pilgrim path through the self-proclaimed palm village. Above Lake Thun, the route leads on a natural surface through beautiful forest sections. Again and again the view of Lake Thun and the nearby mountains becomes clear. Several small wooden benches invite you to rest and linger. Barbecuing is possible next to the Balmholz quarry. From there it goes on tarred surface and natural roads as well as over stone stairs down to the St. Beatus Caves. This place of power invites to stay not only because of the panorama restaurant. The pilgrim path leads past a picnic and playground area.

From the wonderful place of power you finally descend to the shores of Lake Thun – to the dreamy village of Sundlauenen. There the path leads up again along Seestrasse. At the STI stop «Gelbenbrunnen» there is another rest area. From there it goes on a nature path to Neuhaus. There are also numerous resting places at the lake before the hiking trail leads into a wonderful meadow landscape and the nature reserve. Numerous water birds or even fish can be observed at different stations. And maybe a cheeky squirrel will cross your path. Finally, the pilgrim path leads to the ruins of Weissenau, where a covered seating place protects you from wind and weather. From there you follow Aare to Unterseen and to Interlaken station with the STI stop «Interlaken West Bahnhof» of line 21.
