The almost circular hike on the sun terrace Heiligenschwendi high above Lake Thun is very scenic. The highlight is the well-earned march stop at Niesenbänkli, with its magnificent view of the lake and the majestic Niesen, which gave its name to the resting place.

If you would like to catch as many views of Lake Thun, the majestic Niesen and the Bernese Alps as possible in a short amount of time, you are well advised to consider the circular hike in Heiligenschwendi. From the STI stop «Heiligenschwendi Reha Zentrum» you walk along the clinic buildings to the second car park. There you follow the signpost in the direction of Niesenbänkli-Ringoldswil, circular trail no. 7. After about 300 meters, the path branches off to the left to the natural road into the forest – at the junction there is also the last information point on the planetary path Sirius, the one about Pluto. Along the northern slope, hikers can gain wonderful insights into the diversity of the local fauna and flora. Between the fir trees, you can also catch a glimpse of Heiligenschwendi and Goldiwil, and later of Lake Thun and Stockhorn.
After about 40 minutes the way leads upwards and to Schwändli-Allmit. Smaller streams still have to be crossed until a short, steep descent awaits you after Hinterport. Once at the top there is a truly magnificent view, which can best be enjoyed from Niesenbänkli. Because in the center of the panorama is Niesen in all its splendor. After the rest, the circular path leads over meadows and paved roads down to Chrinde. There a small detour to the Restaurant Krindenhof is recommended. The hike along the road takes about 15 minutes and leads into Brüggliwald. There it goes on forest ways and stairs down to the footbridge over Riderbach. As soon as you cross the footbridge, the trail rises again. Following the signs for Heiligenschwendi/Schwendi, the route leads to the idyllic wooded area along meadows and stately farms up to the STI stop «Alpenblick».
