Along Kander and Simme this hike leads through a fairytale landscape along the Stockhorn chain to Niederstocken. A wonderful nature reserve and the impressive power of two mountain rivers remain as a memory, as do the enchanted Seeliswald and the Goldbächli just before Niederstocken.
until «Zwieselberg Hani»
The first short part from the STI stop «Zwieselberg Hani» leads along the road. Then the path turns left and goes left along Kander in the direction of the river, down a path into the forest. This is where the Augand nature reserve begins. The descent should not be underestimated, especially after rainfall. It goes over hill and dale and is partly slippery. The short flat parts of the path clearly show that we are in a meadow landscape. Sometimes we have to make our way through the thicket of impressive flora, accompanied by the loud croaking of frogs, the humming of insects and the chirping of birds. Shortly before the steep ascent to the connecting road between Reutigen and Wimmis there is a small plateau with a fireplace and a resting bench. Here you can enjoy the impressive view of the confluence of the rivers Kander and Simme.
It is only a short distance to the wooden bridge, the Simmesteg. After the bridge the signpost points to the right towards Brodhüsi. Once again the path leads down narrow forest paths and up again. At Brodhüsi we cross Simme over a wooden bridge for the second time. Shortly afterwards the Restaurant Hirschen invites you to linger. Then it goes above the connecting road to be crossed through the forest in the direction of Reutigen. The path finally leads along fields into the village. Following the signpost we walk on well paved roads along fields through Stockental. The valley offers numerous natural beauties, the impressive Stockhorn chain is only one of them. This is revealed at the latest on the last section of this hike through the enchanted Seeliswald forest with its wonderful golden brook. Here you can linger, after all it is not far to the stop «Stockhorn» in Niederstocken.
